In my case i had to delete all the yellow sub-folders under the folder "Network".Thank you very mutch !! It is the same wireless card as the Acer, not even in Device Manager. Btw. Apparently, upgrading while having Cisco VPN or Anyconnect software client will cause these issues. You can run a google search on the model of your laptop (example Lenovo G10 drivers) and click on the official website to download the drivers for it. This worked and I regainced control of the D partition. There was a typing mistake in the previous command. I called Microsoft and their first line support got me to issue some NETSH commands, but as I suggested as there is no adapters, then resetting the winsock stack didnt help.
