Changing cables or ports on my router did not work (the cables work fine with other computers), so I'm at a loss here. However on the laptop, which accesses the net from upsairs via wireless card,the Local Area Connection has an "x" on it sayin network cable is unplugged. (although not reccomended..) try reseating the card whilst the system is on ;) dont fry yourself.
