I was doing more reading about settings but came to the conclusion, we need to know hardware or software. I bought a new computer 7 days ago so we could have internet on 2 computers so to lessen the queue time waiting to go on. Also, i'm still unsure whether or not i should install the router, once at a time, separately, on both computers! I'm just mentioning this because, while it is possible you have already checked, you did not include it in the things you have tried. Was ready to buy a new NIC and disable the one built into my motherboard (SIS 630/730, trouble-free for the past 6 years). If the router is sending encryption (which it should be), the laptop will detect it and ask you for the key. And then tell us that it fits/or doesn't fit the hole in the back of the comp.
