I need to know whether to get on my ISP's case about this or not and it would help me a lot if I understand the answer to that question. First they blamed my modem. If it's slow then it's the PC, it's its fast then it's something else. IF you don't have a accessable DHCP server then it has to be statically entered.

I tried to download steam and it downloaded maybe 500Kbs and stopped. You can unplug the internet if you don't feel safe during this. -Make sure laptop card matches the routers mode (B/N/G). -Update the firmware in your router. Since you are using TP-Link, you can check out their range, they also have Wifi extender models. I don't know what is causing it or why.
