You should hear a series of long, single beeps indicating memory problems. The only thing that has been on both boards is the two CPUs and the heatsink. ? Also, I'm having to type this up on my phone. (All those acronyms were hell with autocorrect) Well, thanks in advance, fellow nerds!

I just installed my z97 gaming 5 & due to it already having an onboard graphics card, plus my previous CARD, I initially plugged the cable into the onboard graphics. I called asus and i had to go into the bios and change the graphics boot sequence to boot to the card first instead of the onboard graphics. No luck on video but everything looks like its starting up. If it's anything like the hassle I had, then it really is a case of too much focus. See your point 3rd ?

Worked for me! With nothing attached (just CPU, PSU, RAM & monitor), and with it unmounted from the case (to avoid any shorts) see if it'll POST (short the power button jumpers).
