even though it seems to power all the parts.. I changed out the power supply but it still does not come on. Is the 4 pin power connector plugged in to the motherboard?

The next test was to just hook up the 24 & 4 pins on the motherboard and the 6 pin to the GPU and see if it would boot at all. For the moment I have put the old PSU back, it only has the 1x 4 pin connection. Nothing proprietary, the 24 and 4 pin connectors should have a standard configuration and thus any aftermarket PSU should work. It seems unusual though that the fan of the corsair stop spinning after 2 seconds. When I press the power button, all the fans start up, I can hear the hard drives powering up, and I can hear my optical drives looking for discs, but I Cross the two male pins with the screwdriver and the computer should start up.
