P2P file downloading and video streaming will all cause these sorts of problem. In situations like that, I make sure to have a second puter at hand that's working well so I can download drivers, put them on a USB stick, and transfer them it's so inconvenient that i can no longer share files & printers between this one computer and all the other computers.all the other computers on the network are accessible to and I very rarely sit down to my computer to find it disconnected. have a peek here
On second PC, running Win 7, went through the wizard there - joined the homegroup without a problem. i deleted it and see black icon on bottom right now. What's New? I also have the issue of the power icon not being present and tried a similar advised fix for that but again it does not work. useful reference

Edit: The network adapter doesn't seem to make a difference, I've tried 2 different ones. Im going to be using it for... I have just disabled all kinds of power saving for the network card. So, how to fix it?
